        Paper Birch

        Name : Paper Birch 

        Family : Betulaceae 

        Leaf : Egg-shaped ; pointy tip ; jagged edges. 

        Bark : Thin ; smooth ; pinkish-white to creamy-white coloured ; easily comes off and flakes in horizontal strips. 

        Uses : Paper pulp ; chopsticks ; toothpicks ; wooden spoons ; furniture ; caskets ; plywood.

        Did you know that you shouldn’t pull off the Paper Birch tree’s bark ? Too much sun and air exposure to the inner bark can kill the tree. 

        Native Americans used Paper Birch bark to make canoes.
