Gerris

Family: Gerridae

Size: The gerris measures 6 to 15 mm.

Longevity: The male gerris dies after mating. The gerris born in spring live 2 months and those who are born in summer live until spring.

Habitat: The gerris lives in peaceful waters, such as our maze. 

Food: The gerris eats insects that fall into the water, dead or alive. It is  insectivorous.

Did you know that the gerris walks slowly on water? Indeed, its rear legs are used to navigate. The gerris can also jump and propel itself very quickly.
