Garter snake

Family: Colubridae

Size: It measures approximately 60cm to 100cm.

Longevity: It can live for 12 years.

Habitat: The garter snakes have adapted to a variety of habitats: forests, fields, wetlands and urban areas. In these areas, they live in dense foliage near the ground and in areas lined with leaves, logs and rocks.

Food: They feed on earthworms, frogs, salamanders, fish, slugs, leeches and small mammals.

Did you know that if they are treated nicely, the garter snakes will let humans touch them.
